Laid back bond

Advanced Elastomer Systems has introduced the Santoprene TPE B100 series of thermoplastic vulcanisates.

AES believes the new range is the first that bonds to acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene copolymer, polycorbonate, ABS/PC blends, polystyrene, acrylic, acrylonitrile styrene acrylate and polyethylene terephalalate. AES is confident that Santoprene TPE X8211-55B100, the initial development grade, will enable designers, moulders and OEMs to injection mould or extrude a soft material onto a variety of rigid substrates to a durable bond without adhesives.

‘This new, bondable Santoprene TPE B100 offers designers a high performance, easy to process option when selecting materials to mould or extrude with a variety of different substrates,’ said Claude Maurel, Industry manager, Consumer Markets, AES.

Products in the new range are easy to process and colour and are non-hygroscopic.In addition to the colourable 55 Shore A durometer Santoprene TPE grade, AES hopes to offer other durometers of ABS/PC/PS-bondable vulcanised TPE’s.
