Fans of the strong silent type will warm to the material used in Tsubaki’s Poly-Steel Chain, an innovation said to give the performance advantages of stainless steel and engineering plastics whilst offering a load capacity close to 304 stainless steel chain.
Noise levels on the chain are said to be as low as 5dB and Tsubaki says it requires no maintenance due to the self-lubricating material of the inner link.
The flexibility of the Poly-Steel design means that other materials can be substituted in the chain for the purpose of gaining additional corrosion resistance.
Two plastics are offered for bushing links, the first of which is electro-conductive; the second is an anti-corrosive white plastic that is resistant to the kinds of caustic agents used in the electronics industry.
The performance of the Poly-Steel chain in arduous environments can be enhanced further with pin and pin plates supplied in 316 stainless steel or a titanium alloy.
