Ultrasonic sensor ignores obstructions

Baumer claims to have developed an ultrasonic sensor which overcomes installation problems.

Traditionally, a measuring area within a confined space, or where stationary objects are causing an obstruction, has meant that installation of the sensor is a critical and time consuming process. But the UDDK 30 from Baumer has a function that is able to fade out the detection of disturbing objects. Stationary objects can be `taught-in’ and therefore suppressed.

The ultrasonic beam scan angle is 10 degrees and distance repeatability is better than 1% of range.
