TurboCAD-developer IMSI has acquired CADalog.com, a network of websites that offer one of the largest mechanical parts libraries on-line.
The CADalog.com web site allows its members access to over 8 million 2D and 3D hardware components organised by manufacturer standard or product type in native AutoCAD, Inventor, SolidWorks and Solid Edge formats, as well as neutral ACIS, IGES and DXF formats.
In addition, members can take advantage of almost 6,000 shareware and freeware files, receive special prices on CAD software, peruse employment opportunities, and participate in forums. IMSI will continue to sell memberships to CADalog.com while it upgrades the site.
The acquisition also includes the purchase of Cadalog’s Partsxl.com, Partswork.com and 3DModelsharing.com websites.
3DmodelSharing.com is a digital media marketplace offering a site where users can offer their custom-built part libraries and CAD files to market for sale or for free. Partswork.com offers online access to SolidWorks-compatible part libraries, while Partsxl.com offers Solid Edge-compatible part libraries.
The acquisition comes hard on the heels of IMSI’s recent proposal to purchase the CADKEY product line.
