Visteon Corporation is to form a joint venture with Lextron Corporation to supply integrated cockpit modules and front-end modules to Nissan, for future truck and minivan platforms.
Based in Jackson, Mississippi, Lextron Corporation is a nationally certified minority supplier that manufactures products for the automotive, telecommunications and defence industries.
The new joint venture, to be named Lextron/Visteon Automotive Systems, will be housed in a 97,500-square-foot facility to be built within 100 yards of the new Nissan facility in Canton, Mississippi, USA.
Visteon will be responsible for all the design, development, engineering and technical assistance in the venture, while Lextron brings its manufacturing and management capability to the partnership.
‘We’re very excited about this joint venture with Lextron, and the opportunity to build our relationship with Nissan,’ said Michael Johnston, Visteon President and Chief Operating Officer. ‘Supplying integrated cockpit modules and front-end modules will allow us to reduce the weight and cost of the system while improving quality.’
