EMC Corporation has acquired San Diego, CA-based Prisa Networks, a privately held supplier of storage area network (SAN) management software, for $20 million.

Hopkinton, MA-based EMC Corporation has acquired San Diego, CA-based Prisa Networks, a privately held supplier of storage area network (SAN) management software.

The company, EMC’s eighth software acquisition in three years, was acquired in a cash transaction valued at approximately $20 million.

Prisa Networks’ software, which, amongst other things, discovers, manages and monitors multi-vendor SAN devices, including storage systems, switches, hubs, routers and HBAs, will initially be sold through existing OEM agreements.

Future plans call for the open software to be offered through additional EMC channel partners and EMC sales organisations.

Prisa’s management team and more than 60 employees will continue to operate in San Diego as part of EMC’s Open Software organisation.
