Infineon, Agere Systems and Motorola have formed a new company – StarCore – to develop and license DSP technology.

Infineon Technologies has joined forces with Agere Systems and Motorola to establish StarCore, a new company focused on developing and marketing digital signal processors (DSPs).

StarCore will develop and license easily scalable DSP ‘cores,’ and market its products to semiconductor manufacturers and communications equipment providers worldwide.

The company is expected to begin operations in late summer 2002, subject to regulatory approvals and other customary closing conditions.

Thomas Lantzsch, who comes from Motorola’s Semiconductor Products Sector where he was Vice President and Director of Intellectual Property Value Creation, will head up the new company.

Starcore’s headquarters will be in Austin, TX with a subsidiary office in Tel Aviv, Israel. Initial lead customers will be the three founding companies themselves.
