IBM has linked up with CargoLifter, the German company developing the world’s first heavy payload airships, to meet the IT and CAD requirements of 25 projects.
CargoLifter Development is using IBM CAD technology to develop the airship’s first digital prototypes. A strategic ERP system will be installed across the company.
IBM director Christian Hildebrandt said: `Our e-business concepts for CargoLifter comprise both innovative e-commerce solutions, embedded systems and wearable PCs, which give engineers the ultimate in freedom of movement when working in the hangars.’
CargoLifter board member Dr Carl von Gablenz said production of the Cargolifter CL160 will start this autumn.
