Magnet that edges ahead

Anchor Magnets, the UK subsidiary of Kane Magnetics International, has released Mag-Edge, a magnet that likes to think of itself as a reclining Buddha.

Anchor Magnets, the UK subsidiary of Kane Magnetics International, has released Mag-Edge, a magnet that likes to think of itself as a reclining Buddha in a state of nirvana.

This is because the Mag-Edge has been designed to work on its edge, rather than on it’s face as a ferrite magnet usually does.

Similarly, the Mag-Edge – despite its modest stature – produces more than five times the energy level in MGOe units for the same contact area.

Mag-Edge combines a compound of neodymium-iron-boron with a coloured plastic edge strip by co-extruding the materials through a common die.

Magnetisation follows as the next process in line: the plastic edging is coloured to identify the different polarity of co-acting strips.

Mag-Edge is said to be ideal for automated assembly processes, display units, showrooms and conferences and early learning toys.
