ChemConnect, a business-to-business, global marketplace that brings together buyers and sellers of chemical and plastic products online, has established two ChemConnect joint ventures with the Japanese trading companies Mitsui & Co., Ltd., Mitsubishi Corporation, Sumitomo Corporation and Marubeni Corporation.
The two companies, ChemConnect Japan and the Chemical Mall Asia-Pacific will operate an online chemicals and plastics exchange and an on-line manufacturer’s mall respectively, and offer other transaction and e-commerce services, specifically tailored to the unique needs of the Japanese and Asia Pacific chemical industry, the world’s third-largest chemicals marketplace.
ChemConnect Japan and the Chemical Mall Asia-Pacific will provide an integrated online chemicals and plastics trading environment with news and information services, logistics, financial, credit, and other ancillary services – all tailored for the Japanese market.
Buyers and sellers will also have seamless access to the global marketplace of the World Chemical Exchange, allowing them to derive the benefits of global trading opportunities, while giving members of the World Chemical Exchange new opportunities in the $400 Billion Japanese chemical market.
ChemConnect Japan and the Chemical Mall Asia-Pacific will be run by separate, full on-site management teams in Tokyo and staffed by Japanese engineers, sales, marketing, and service employees. ChemConnect will be providing the technology and management to the joint ventures while the four sogo shoshas will contribute their knowledge of the Japanese market, localization resources, and the infrastructure they have in place for additional value added services.
Founded in 1995, ChemConnect is headquartered in San Francisco, with offices in Frankfurt, Houston, London, Paris, Philadelphia, Rotterdam and Singapore. On the web at www.chemconnect.com
