Enigma set to solve the puzzle of mobile repair

Technical content specialist Enigma has unveiled a mobile software platform allowing maintenance and repair information to be accessed via wireless devices.

The software developer’s 3C Platform allows field engineers to use a handheld computer or digital assistant to search maintenance manuals or service bulletins for details of parts or technical procedures.

Engima, which specialises in e-commerce-based initiatives for the equipment aftermarket, claimed the new wireless platform would bridge a gap in the maintenance support chain.

By making technical information accessible on the move, it said engineers would no longer need to return to their desktop computer if they do not already have the relevant data stored on their machine.

The technology also makes it possible for engineers to send orders for necessary parts directly to their own company’s system.

Enigma claimed the wireless platform would be particularly useful for emergency or other unscheduled work, or if unexpected problems arise during routine maintenance.

The 3C platform can be used with mobile devices which support the PocketPC or PalmOS operating systems.
