e centreUK, the UK authority on standards and practices in electronic trade, took the opportunity of its presence at the ‘e-commerce Expo 2000’ exhibition in the NEC, Birmingham, to announce a major one day conference on e-commerce for logistics and transport professionals.
The ‘E-commerce Developments in the Transport Industry’ conference will be held on Tuesday 23rd May 2000 at the Motor Cycle Museum, Solihull, near Birmingham, starting at 9.30 am. It is being organised by one of e centre UK’s expert groups, the Logistics and Transport Users Group (LOTUS).
The conference will chaired by Professor Tony Davies, Chairman of LOTUS and Director of the BT eCommerce Innovation Centre at Cardiff University, who will preside over a programme of expert speakers. The programme will cover e-commerce topics essential to logisticians and transport operators including freight forwarding, shipping, ports, exporting and customs clearance. These specialist topics will be supplemented by the latest information on legal issues relating to e-commerce and developments in new technologies.
Tony Davies said: ‘Our wide ranging programme will provide an outstanding opportunity for operational and IT managers from the UK freight industry to be updated with the latest e-commerce developments. We will give them every encouragement to meet the speakers for discussions of specific interest to their own operations. Our conference is not limited just to members of e centre UK. We look forward to welcoming non members just as warmly.’
