Tell me – Is it safe?

Rohde & Schwarz has introduced the SITMinisafe, a cigarette packet sized unit that sits between the COM port of a PC or notebook and its modem where it automatically encrypts all data to be transmitted

Data transmission via modem on telephone lines or in mobile-radio networks is an everyday thing, and corporate networks are generally protected in a number of ways.

However, modem links through public networks are often neglected, far too often leading to damage caused by spying, manipulation or unauthorised access.

To address this problem, Rohde & Schwarz has introduced the SITMinisafe. This cigarette packet sized unit sits between the COM port of a PC or notebook and its modem where it automatically encrypts all data to be transmitted.

The entire control, initialisation and key management of the device are performed from a terminal program that is completely independent of the user platform and operating system. The encryption mode forces the set up of an encrypted link or aborts connection if the key is incorrect or missing.
