Typical power supply efficiencies greater than 92% can be achieved using Intersil’s new ISL6406 and ISL6426 synchronous buck switching regulators.

Intersil Corporation’s new ISL6406 and ISL6426 synchronous buck switching regulators feature an adjustable 100- to 700-kHz switching frequency range and are capable of being synchronized with an external clock or other distributed DC converters in a system.

The ISL6406’s output voltage is settable from 0.8 to 3.3 V and the ISL6426 output voltage is fixed at a 1.8 V. The devices operate from a single 3.3-V or 5-V supply rail.

Typical power supply efficiencies greater than 92% can be achieved, helping to eliminate the need for a heatsink in standard-buck or linear-regulating converters.

The ICs are offered in 16-lead SOIC, 16-lead TSSOP and 16-pad 4 X 4 mm QFN packages. All versions of the devices are priced at less than $2 in hundred-unit quantities.
