Design-to-order with Dynamic Design Link

PTC’s new DynamicDesignLink is a solution for companies that produce products with many design variations, and will allow end users to interactively customise and define ‘designed-to-order’ products.

PTC today announced the latest addition to its family of collaborative product development solutions powered by Windchill technology.

PTC’s DynamicDesignLink is a solution for companies that produce products with many design variations, and will allow end users to interactively customise and define ‘designed-to-order’ products.

This Web-based solution provides value to manufacturers who are developing products that are engineered to a buyer’s specific performance requirements.

First, a manufacturer implements PTC DynamicDesignLink, and uses it to create dynamic families of products, defining which features are open to customisation and the rules for reconfiguration.

Then, when a sales rep, application engineer or even a customer wants to tailor a product, they log on to the site powered by PTC DynamicDesignLink. All the user needs is a Web browser.

A specification wizard then prompts the user with options for modifications. For each set of parameters entered, PTC DynamicDesignLink produces a digital prototype for preview, each being a working model of a feasible product.

The result is reduced design time, even on complex products.

Once a prototype is selected, PTC DynamicDesignLink can generate a bill of materials and other necessary product information automatically.
