New magazine and website for SET undergraduates. The Engineer & etb are to launch Technology Horizons, a joint initiative created to address the issue of the growing skills gap with the aim of attracting more young talent into the sector.

Current research shows that as many as 7 out of 10 newly graduated SET students are lost, every year, to alternative careers. The most common reason for this is negative perception and lack of awareness of what a career in science, engineering and technology can really offer.



In May 2006, The Engineer and the ETB will launch Technology Horizons, a joint initiative created to address the issue and bring more young talent into the sector to address the growing skills gap.



Technology Horizons takes the form of a magazine and website targeting the vitally important 18 – 25 age group of SET students and early stage professionals with lively and compelling content that presents the real value of a career in science, engineering and technology.



As you would expect from two of the sector’s leading voices, The Engineer and the ETB are committed to our vision of changing perceptions of this age group. As a leading employer you will recognise the importance of this initiative – you may not currently face a problem recruiting at this level, but many of your suppliers and partners do. So, we need your support.



We are seeking sponsorship from an influential and select group of companies who share our determination to achieve change. We don’t expect a hand-out. Sponsors will receive a series of real benefits in addition to a say in the direction and editorial content of both the magazine and website.

About the etb


The Engineering and Technology Board (etb) is a registered charity that aims to tackle the significant yet unaddressed needs of the UK‘s science, engineering and technology industry and to create a unified platform and voice.


We work in partnership with business and industry, Government, education and the profession to improve the perception of science, engineering and technology (SET) in the UK.
