Timken buys French component maker

Timken has acquired Lecheres Industries SAS, the parent company of Bamarec SA, a precision component manufacturer based in France. Bamarec will operate as part of the Timken Precision Steel Components business unit.

Bamarec operates two component manufacturing facilities in France – one located in Fougeres, and a second in Marnaz. The company, a 100 year-old family-owned business, currently employs nearly 190 people and sold about $20 million in precision components for automotive and industrial applications last year.

Timken Precision Steel Components is part of the company’s Alloy Steel business which already operates another unit in Europe – Timken Desford Steel Limited, a seamless steel tubing plant in the UK.

The company also operates several bearing manufacturing facilities throughout Europe.
