AMEC has been awarded a design, construction and commissioning contract worth approximately £100 million to provide a new submarine berthing facility at a Royal Navy base in Clyde, Scotland.

AMEC has been awarded an additional design, construction and commissioning contract worth approximately £100 million to provide a new submarine berthing facility at Her Majesty’s Naval Base Clyde, Scotland.

This award, for the UK Ministry of Defence, follows successful completion of the initial concept and definition phases of work undertaken over the last two years.

Detailed design is now underway with construction scheduled to begin in spring 2005. Completion is planned for mid-2007.

The infrastructure project principally involves the provision of a new floating jetty, including specialised cranes and all electrical and mechanical services, and a jetty support building.

AMEC chief executive, Sir Peter Mason, said: ‘The MoD is a very important long term client and we are pleased to be further expanding our activities for them.’
