40% extra power

Lambda has introduced a 900W model in its Vega series of AC-DC power supplies that offers engineers 40% more power in a unit the exact same size as the Vega 650W model.

The power density is now 0.48 watts per cubic inch for a configurable, off-the-shelf unit, meeting the higher power needs of designers of medical, industrial control, computing and instrumentation equipment.

The Vega 900 has no minimum load requirement and offers one to ten wide-range adjustable output voltages from 0.4 to 62V and output currents up to 114 amps. The input voltage is 130-330VDC and 90-264VAC, derating below 180VAC.

Output module functions include inhibit, module good, remote sense and parallel. Typical efficiency is 75% at full load, and the new supply comes complete with short circuit and over voltage protection.

As well as a choice of output modules, there are a number of customer-specified options. The Vega 900 can be supplied with standard, reverse, customer-supplied or low-noise fan-cooling options. Input connections can be made via a choice of screw, faston or IEC320 terminals. Without the internal fan, the Vega 900 measures 9.8 x 5 x 2.5 inches.

CE marked in accordance with the LVD, the supply carries a host of environmental and safety agency approvals, including EN55022 Class B, UL1950, CSA22.2 No.950, EN60950, IEC60950, EN61010-1, EN60601, UL2601 and UL3101-1. Standard leakage current is 1.5 milliamps and versions with leakage currents down to 50 microamps are available for medical applications.

The Vega 900 is available now, with prices starting at $600 in single-unit quantities.
