A new range of background suppression sensors from Banner Engineering will only detect objects within their preset sensing range, ignoring all others outside the range regardless of the object’s surface reflectivity.

The QS18FF range, as the sensors are called, come in two flavours. Users can select from preprogrammed models for 50 mm (2″) or 100 mm (4″) fixed-field sensing ranges.

Because the sensors do not contain any adjustment push buttons, DIP switches or knobs, they are tough to tamper or alter.

Users simply mount the sensor so that the target will pass within the predefined sensing range and they are ready to begin operating.

A visible red spot generated by the sensor’s high power output LED makes target positioning quick and easy by providing a visual confirmation of the exact target point to be sensed.

Operating from a 10 to 30V dc supply voltage, they come in a fully-sealed 18mm housing that can be mounted via threaded-nose or side-mounting holes.

They also feature EMI, RFI & optical noise immunity, NPN or PNP outputs, LED status indicators visible from 360 degrees, an assortment of mounting and protective brackets as well as a range of cable options including integral Pico-style and Euro-style quick-disconnect connectors.
