Stoke-on-Trent based Norcros Adhesives is to target new growth with a £1.2m investment programme in updated premises and high tech machinery. The Advantage West Midlands (AWM) development agency is to provide £140,000, through the Selective Finance for Investment in England (SFIE) grant, to assist in this expansion.

The company supplies adhesives, grouts and surface preparation products to the tile and stone market. A £655,000 outlay for machinery will include a £80,000 Fanuc robotic palletiser, as well as fully automated silos and mixers. The scheme has already created 15 jobs.

Norcos Adhesives managing director Peter Barlow said: ‘We have a plan for growth which will subsequently create further employment opportunities.’

AWM project and contracts manager David Phillips added: ‘The consequences of AWM not helping with this project would be to deny a significant opportunity to strengthen the UK business activities of Norcros and also the potential of additional exports in the future. This would led to Norcros taking business outside the UK – resulting in a negative impact on job creation and protection.’
