Sustainable energy technology business Ener-g Natural Power (www.energ.co.uk)  has launched a hire service for landfill gas generators.

The specialist units, which range in capacity from 165kW up to 1.15MW and create green electricity from otherwise harmful landfill gas, will be hired to other generating companies and waste management companies to fill gaps in their generating capacity. They will help businesses manage increases or decreases in methane gas supply, which vary according to  how old the waste is and the volumes deposited.

The short-term hire service will increase the energy potential from this technology and have huge environmental benefits in significantly reducing levels of  methane being vented to atmosphere..

Ener-g Natural Power already manages a significant number of the UK’s installed landfill gas generators. Managing director High Richmond believes short term hire contracts will interest other players in the market by allowing them to maximise peak gas production periods without running the risk in terms of capital outlay.

“The new venture enables customers to ‘plug and play’, providing extra flexibility and greater efficiency,” said High Richmond. “From initial contacts in the sector we are seeing some very encouraging signs in terms of the growth potential of this business.”
