Sheffield Forgemasters has received a top regional learning and skills award for contribution to training and apprenticeships. The Clive W Leach award for Outstanding Contribution to Training by a company was presented at the Celebration of Learning and Skills Awards (CoLaS).
Launched this year, the award recognised that Forgemasters has an exceptional programme of development for its apprentices, which puts vital engineering skills back into the industry. The company is currently training 61 apprentices from a total of 708 employees.
The event celebrates the achievements if the region’s employers and learners, who were joined by politicians, journalists, and representatives from education for the ceremony.
Chief executive Graham Honeyman said: ‘Forgemasters has made great strides forward and much of that is down to the hard work and enthusiasm from the workforce.’
