Xploite wins £2.7m data centre contract

Gatwick-based IT services company Xploite has won a £2.7m contract through its Anix managed services and storage division to supply a data centre in Southampton

Gatwick-based IT services company Xploite has won a £2.7m contract through its Anix managed services and storage division to supply IBM equipment to a new £30m data centre in Southampton.

As part of the agreement, Xploite will supply the centre with IBM’s innovative ‘pod’ storage technology. Each pod is a self-contained data centre with up to 40 racks. The overall facility has the capacity for 1,800 racks and will be built out on an as-required basis.

Xploite said that given the current high demand for data centre space, the rollout is expected to take as little as three years.

Ian Smith, Xploite chief executive, said that the contract would contribute to Anix’s projected 40 per cent organic growth over the next year.
