ABB has won orders worth a total of $40m (£26m) from Shanghai Zhenhua Heavy Industries to supply crane automation and electrical systems for three projects.
The projects include automation and electrical systems for 38 unmanned automatic stacking container cranes and eight ship-to-shore container cranes at Busan New Port, South Korea; and three 2,500 ton-per-hour ship unloader cranes for Tangshan Port Group, China.
At Busan New Port, ABB will deliver full crane automation and support systems to maximise overall efficiency of the port’s automated terminals, as well as related project management, engineering, customer training and commissioning services. The cranes will be operable in mid-2011.
The cranes for Tangshan Port Group will be used to unload ore from ships and barges at Shougang Jingtang Port in China. The cranes will be operable by the end of 2010.
ABB said it has successfully delivered similar projects in ports such as Singapore, Tokyo, Hamburg, Kaohsiung, Rotterdam and Taipei, as well as previous projects at Busan.
