Akzo Nobel expands MCA facility

Akzo Nobel, a Dutch manufacturing corporation, has unveiled a plant expansion for the manufacture of monochloroacetic acid (MCA) at its Taixing site in China, doubling its original capacity.

The site now claims a production capacity of 60,000MT a year and will help to meet demand for MCA in China, where the market is growing in line with GDP at more than 10 per cent annually.

The expansion is the latest in a series of developments for Akzo Nobel in China, following the 2009 launch of a powder coatings technology centre and chelates facility at the Ningbo site.
