Al Futtaim Carillion wins construction contracts

Mubadala Infrastructure, a state-owned company of the Abu Dhabi government, has appointed construction company Al Futtaim Carillion to deliver Stage 3 of the UAE University project, which is being built in the city of Al Ain.

Stage 3 of the project, which is worth around £80m, will include the construction of academic buildings, recreational facilities and residential accommodation, as well the phased demolition of existing buildings.

Construction work will start in May 2010 and is scheduled for completion in the second quarter of 2011.

Al Futtaim Carillion has also been awarded a £30m contract by Aldar to build a new retail outlet for Ikea on Yas Island, due for completion by the end of the year.
