Dow Corning looks to next silicon solar cells

US-based silicon supplier Dow Corning has signed a three-year contract with European nanoelectronics research centre Imec to perform joint research on next generations of crystalline silicon solar cells.

Dow Corning has entered into several joint development projects within the framework of Imec’s industrial affiliation programme (IIAP) on silicon solar cells.

The programme concentrates on sharply reducing silicon use, while at the same time increasing the efficiency of solar cells.
