Fluor awarded Qatar EPCM contract

Engineering company Fluor has announced that it has been awarded an engineering, procurement and construction management (EPCM) contract by Qatargas Operating Company in Ras Laffan, Qatar, as part of a project with a total capital expenditure of approximately $1bn.

The project work for the jetty boil-off gas-recovery system is being performed at the LNG storage and loading facilities in Qatar, and is estimated for completion by the end of 2013 or early 2014.

The project’s objective is to minimise gas flaring at LNG berths, thereby recovering and collecting gas so that it can be reused primarily as fuel gas by the Qatargas and RasGas LNG ventures.
