INIS agrees uranium de-conversion deal

International Isotopes (INIS), a manufacturer of nuclear-medicine calibration and reference standards, has signed an agreement with Louisiana Energy Services (LES), a consortium of nuclear power companies, to provide depleted uranium de-conversion services for LES’s Urenco facility in Eunice, New Mexico.

Under the contract, LES will supply certain minimum volumes of depleted material to INIS for de-conversion, with the option to process further material.

The deal also calls for INIS to provide related ancillary for-fee services, such as uranium-hexafluoride cylinder cleaning, inspection and retesting.
