MAN unveils heavy-truck production line

Commercial vehicle manufacturer MAN has opened a production line at its Resende, Brazil, plant that is designed to handle 5,000 of its TGS- and TGX-range heavy trucks a year.

Test vehicles will be produced over the next few months, with the first vehicles on order to be delivered to three of Brazil’s largest transportation companies in 2011.

A supplier park being set up by next year will equip partners Arvin Meritor, Maxion and Suspensys with their own production facilities in the vicinity of the Resende plant.

Investments in the two projects amount to BRL235m (£87m), while 100 of the 800 new jobs created at the site will be on the new production line.
