Capita Symonds to support development of A556 road

UK engineering consultancy Capita Symonds has been appointed by the Highways Agency to support the development of a new four-mile dual carriageway that will connect the M6 and M56 in south-east Manchester.

The company will also undertake the detailed design of the scheme in due course, once statutory approvals have been secured.

Capita Symonds is working with construction partner Costain on the A556 scheme, which is one of the 14 Highways Agency road schemes due to start construction in the next five years, subject to the completion of statutory processes.

The A556 currently carries approximately 51,500 vehicles per day and is heavily congested for long periods.
