US Army orders BAE Systems thermal weapon sights

BAE Systems will provide a range of light, medium and heavy thermal weapon sights to the US Army under a $56m (£33.9m) contract that continues production of the sights, for use on individual and crew-served weapons.

The second-generation thermal sights are claimed to give soldiers a tremendous day/night advantage to detect, observe and engage the enemy on the battlefield by providing imagery independent of darkness, smoke and other common battlefield obscurants.
