Rolls-Royce awarded contracts worth £19m

Rolls-Royce has signed contracts with China Oilfield Services Ltd (COSL), worth £19m to deliver propulsion equipment for two deep-sea research vessels and one seismic vessel. 

All three vessels are designed by the Norwegian design firm Skipsteknisk.The deep sea research vessels (ST 259) will each have six engines, two main azimuth thrusters, two retractable thrusters, two tunnel thrusters and remote control systems from Rolls-Royce.

The ST 318 design seismic vessel will be equipped with four engines, rudders and steering gear from Rolls-Royce.

The research vessels are to be built at CSSC Huangpu Wenchong Shipyard for delivery respectively in the first and second half of 2016, while the seismic vessel will be built at Shanghang Shipyard for delivery in the second half of 2015.
