US-based V.i. Laboratories has come with a new way to allow independent software developers to track, reduce and recover lost revenue due to piracy.

Its CodeArmor Intelligence software can be integrated with existing applications through a simple configuration program. If piracy or tampering is detected, CodeArmor Intelligence then communicates the infringement back to a server at the software developer’s facility.

This then enables the vendor to identify which companies are illegally using its products and gather hard, indisputable evidence necessary to recover that revenue.

‘Our software enables software vendors not only to quantify how much they are at risk from piracy, but to target the actual users of the pirated software to convert them into paying customers,’ said Victor DeMarines, vice-president of V.i. Laboratories.

CodeArmor Intelligence is available for an annual subscription price that starts at $50,000 (£27,000).
