Fluor B&W to perform cleanup at US DOE plant

Engineering and construction services firm Fluor has announced that its environmental remediation arm, Fluor – B&W Portsmouth, was chosen by the US Department of Energy (DOE) for the next phase of cleanup at its Gaseous Diffusion Plant in Portsmouth, Pike County, Ohio.

As the prime contractor for the decontamination and decommissioning of the plant, Fluor’s work is anticipated to help reduce environmental risks and create local job opportunities.

The estimated value of the contract is approximately $2.1bn (£1.3bn) over 10 years, which includes an initial five-year period plus a potential five-year extension based on performance and the government’s needs.
