The US Army TACOM Lifecycle Management Command has awarded defence contractor General Dynamics Land Systems $9.8m (£6.1m) to purchase materials to support production of double V-shaped hulls for Stryker armoured combat vehicles.

Deliveries will begin in January to allow vehicles to be available for use by the Stryker brigade that will rotate into Afghanistan in 2011, with delivery to be completed by February 2012.
