Car manufacturing continues to rise steadily, states SMMT

Car manufacturing rose 1.3 per cent in July and is up 3.7 per cent over the first seven months of 2011, according to a report from the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT).

SMMT also report that CV output declined 5.9 per cent in July and was down 5.1 per cent over the period from January to July.

UK engine production remained stable, dipping just 0.4 per cent in July and increasing four per cent for the year to date.

Vehicle manufacturing is forecast to grow steadily, with a continued focus on export markets.
