Alstom set to supply turbine generators for RAPP units

Power generation and transport specialist Alstom has been awarded a contract by Indian company Nuclear Power Corporation to supply the turbine generator package for units seven and eight of the Rajasthan Atomic Power Project (RAPP).

Alstom, in consortium with Bharat Heavy Electricals, will supply, install and commission the turbine generator packages for the power station’s two new 700MW-capacity units in Rawatbhata, Rajasthan.

The expansion of the RAPP nuclear power plant’s existing capacity of 1,180MW is intended to help meet increasing demand for power in the country.

Alstom’s share in the total consortium contract is around €100m (£79m).
