ENEC and AREVA sign €400m uranium supply contract

Emirates Nuclear Energy Corporation (ENEC) and AREVA have signed an integrated enriched uranium supply contract worth more than €400m (£314m).

The contract stipulates that AREVA will supply the future nuclear plants at Barakah, which is under construction in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), with enriched uranium over an eight-year period.

As part of the UAE’s nuclear programme, the commissioning of the first two of four reactors is planned to take place in 2017 and 2018, pending regulatory approval.
