Hayes Control Systems has released details of the new Beckoff built-on PC, a self contained industrial PC unit that can be attached to a Beckoff control panel to provide a complete computer system for a range of engineering, process and manufacturing environments. Specifically designed for attachment to customisable Beckhoff CP7100 control panels, the four slot built-on system allows Hayes to supply OEMs with full industrial PC capabilities in a single package.
The built-on significantly simplifies the assembly and construction of industrial PC units, reducing the need for wiring, cutting build time and providing easy access for maintenance. The PC can be simply attached to the rear of a control panel or fixed to a flexible arm support, which can be moved around the work area and positioned to suit the system operator. Alternatively, a stand base enables the unit to be turned into a tabletop PC.
The new built-on unit incorporates a PC of the highest performance class housed in a rugged, IP65 aluminium casting, which has been subjected to extensive thermal and vibration testing to ensure consistent operation even in harsh industrial conditions. Cooling of the unit is supported by ribs in the outer casing wall. An internal fan ensures that the heat is evenly distributed and enables reliable operation at ambient temperatures of up to 45?C.
The PC is supplied fully configured for connection to a slim profile CP7100 control panel with a 10, 12 or 15in display, which can be customised to suit each application. The panel can be used either as a monitor or combined with function and PLC special keys, a numeric or alphanumeric keyboard of touchscreen. For further flexibility, a bus terminal provides the potential to connect to hand wheels, potentiometers, switches, signal lamps and other components without additional wiring requirements.
