Fisher-Rosemount buys UK-based MDC

Fisher-Rosemount, the process automation division of St. Louis-based Emerson, has acquired MDC Technology.

Fisher-Rosemount, the process automation division of St. Louis-based Emerson, has acquired MDC Technology, a UK-based supplier of software and services for real-time process optimisation, equipment performance monitoring, advanced control and process information management.

MDC products include RTO+ for plant modelling, data reconciliation, and real-time optimisation, IPM+ for intelligent performance monitoring, and MSPC+ for multivariable statistical control.

MDC’s software can work with traditional control systems from many suppliers. However, by integrating them with Fisher-Rosemount’s PlantWeb, a field-based architecture that combines intelligent field devices and automation systems, users will be able to gain a better source of information about what’s actually happening on the plant floor.

MDC will maintain its development and support headquarters in Teesside, UK. Their specialists will become part of a new organisation working to extend and integrate MDC’s technology across Fisher-Rosemount’s product lines. Sales will be managed through Fisher-Rosemount’s network of sales offices and representatives.

The financial details of the acquisition were not disclosed.
