ACSYS technologies awarded $384 million in new contracts

ACSYS Technologies has been awarded automotive contracts that will generate $384 million dollars in new business through to 2008 and beyond.

ACSYS Technologies has been awarded automotive contracts that will generate $384 million dollars in new business through at least the 2008 model year.

According to a statement, ACSYS will supply fully assembled front and rear fascia subsystems for a 2004 model year vehicle program and a major front-end structural component for a high-volume passenger car platform. The fascia subsystems will be supplied in sequence on a just-in-time basis from ACSYS Technologies’ Oshawa, Ontario manufacturing operations.

In support of this major step in ACSYS’ plan for growth in the automotive exterior fascia and body protection systems area, the company will be making a significant investment to expand its injection moulding equipment capabilities and Class A surface paint facilities.

The front-end structural component, a welded assembly of multiple steel stampings, will launch in mid 2002 and reportedly continue for several years on current and upcoming car lines.

ACSYS’ large scale stamping resources and process equipment, supplied by affiliate company Citation Tool, will combine to produce the assemblies.

ACSYS Technologies is a new automotive supplier, launched in September 2001, to provide a variety of components and systems, including exterior fascia subsystems and plastics and metallic component systems, to the automotive market.
