Bombardier wins additional order for metro cars in Germany

A consortium comprised of Bombardier and Alstom has been awarded a $95 million Cdn contract by Hamburger Hochbahn for the manufacture of a sixth series of DT4 underground trains.

A consortium comprised of Bombardier and Alstom has been awarded a contract by Hamburger Hochbahn for the manufacture of a sixth series of DT4 underground trains for the city of Hamburg, Germany.

The follow-on order, valued at approximately $95 million Cdn (60 million Euros), calls for the production and delivery of 15 four-car trains.

Bombardier’s share is valued at $46 million Cdn (29 million Euros). Bombardier will develop the electrical equipment, including traction, at its Mannheim facility in Germany. Alstom will produce the carbodies, bogies and brake systems in Salzgitter, Germany.

The new trainsets, which are 95% recyclable, are scheduled to be delivered between March 2004 and April 2005.
