Healthcare technology group Consort Medical hopes to make further inroads into the American drug dispenser market.
The company, which has UK facilities in King’s Lynn and Milton Keynes (though the latter is scheduled for closure), said recent guidelines by the Food and Drug Administration will require all new aerosol drug dispensers to include dose counters.
Consort’s Bespak division has designed a dose counter system that is expected to begin commercial sales in 2009. The company told its shareholders that this should leave it in a strong position to take advantage of the opportunities created by the FDA’s decision.
Consort’s pre-tax profit for the six months to October rose by 11 per cent to £9.4m. Sales rose slightly to £62.7m.
