Island Offshore awards Rolls-Royce service vessels contract

Power systems provider Rolls-Royce has won a £15m order to provide design, equipment and integrated power and propulsion systems for two offshore service vessels belonging to ship owner Island Offshore.

The contract includes options for four additional vessels.

The latest Rolls-Royce designed UT 717 CD platform supply vessels will encompass an integrated power and propulsion system, incorporating main engines, controllable pitch propellers, bow and stern thrusters, deck machinery and an automation and control system.

They will be fitted out at the STX OSV yard in Brevik, Norway, and will be ready for delivery in the latter half of 2013.
