MMPA awards Xergi supply contract for US biogas plant

Denmark-based biogas company Xergi has signed a contract with the Minnesota Municipal Power Agency (MMPA) for the establishment of a biogas plant in Le Sueur, Minnesota, US.

Called Hometown BioEnergy, the plant will use gas-fired CHP engines, with a total output of 8MW electrical power, to produce biogas from agricultural and food processing wastes, such as sweetcorn silage, potato waste and chicken manure.

Xergi will produce the facility design and supply key components, in addition to providing assistance during construction and advice to Avant during the commissioning of the plant.

One of the key components supplied by Xergi is the company’s Flexfeed module for the pre-treatment of the biomass before it is fed into the anaerobic digesters.
