Aker signs Ichthys LNG deal with McDermott subsidiary

Oil services provider Aker Solutions has signed a NOK500m (£55m) contract with a subsidiary of McDermott for the delivery of subsea tie-in connectors to the Ichthys liquefied natural gas (LNG) project.

The work includes the delivery of 6–18in (15–46cm) horizontal and vertical diver-less tie-in connectors to be included in the McDermott umbilicals, risers and flowline scope for the Ichthys project.

McDermott, an engineering, procurement, construction and installation specialist, is the lead contractor for the Ichthys SURF field development project.

Gas from the Ichthys field, in the Browse Basin approximately 200km off the shore of Western Australia, will undergo preliminary offshore processing to remove water and extract condensate. The gas will then be exported to onshore processing facilities in Darwin via an 889km subsea pipeline.
