Kernel Capital leads investment in Dublin company SolarPrint

Kernel Capital, through the Bank of Ireland Seed and Early Stage Equity Fund, has led a €1m (£813,000) investment in Dublin-based SolarPrint, a developer of indoor energy-harvesting technology.

The syndicated investment consists of a €500,000 investment by Kernel Capital, with the remainder of the funds provided by private investors.

The Enterprise Ireland-supported company, which was founded in 2008, is developing dye-sensitised solar cell technology, which converts light from any source into energy.

The SolarPrint technology is said to provide an autonomous power source for intelligent wireless devices, eliminating the constraints of mains-power wiring or disposable battery replacement.
