MIRA upgrades its Vehicle Exhaust Emissions Laboratory

Advanced engineering, research and test consultancy MIRA has completed a major upgrade of its Vehicle Exhaust Emissions Laboratory (VEEL) at its site in Nuneaton, Warwickshire.

The refit, which represents £360,000 worth of investment, includes a new AVL chassis dynamometer that will reportedly provide MIRA’s customers with even greater test accuracy and repeatability, as well as the ability to test a wide range of vehicles types.

The 48in (122cm) single-roll two-wheel-drive dynamometer can achieve a maximum test speed of up to 200km/h and provides wide inertia simulation ranging from 150kg to 5,488kg over various drive cycles and steady-state conditions.

The dynamometer also offers ‘at-the-wheel’ vehicle performance measurement capability of up to 150kW in continuous mode and 250kW for short periods (10 seconds).
